Mosaic Church is a progressive and inclusive Church who’s vision is to be a compassionate community, rooted in Traverse City, radically loving all people.

MOSAIC CHURCH IS A CHURCH FOR:

- those with as many questions as they have answers
- those who think Jesus is amazing…the church, not so sure
- those who think LOVE really does win
- those who have been hurt by the church before and just need a place to “BE”
- those who can’t shake God…he/she/they keep coming after them
- those who don’t fit in
- those hoping to find “their people”
- those who have had the world try and break them and need a place to heal
- those who believe the church exists for the good of their neighbor and world

Here are the details:

WHEN

Beginning 10/10 we will be gathering in person starting at 11:15 am. Traverse Bay UMC is being incredibly hospitable, and we want to make sure that we are amazing guests. Starting a little later than our normal 11:00 am start time means that we are less likely to interrupt their gathering which goes from 10-11. Being a Church that uses another Church’s space, and being in transition, means this might change, but we will keep everyone up to date on those changes.

WHERE

Mosaic will be gathering at Traverse Bay UMC in their Fellowship Hall. They are located at 1200 Ramsdell St. in Traverse City. You can go HERE for a map. You can park in their main parking lot and enter through the main doors. There will be a sign directing you when you arrive. If you like getting in your steps or the church’s parking lot is full, you can park in the Bayview Professional Center which is right on the corner of the Parkway and M72. There is a footbridge connecting their parking lot to TBUMC’s.

COVID

MOSAIC has taken COVID seriously since it began. That is because we take the role of loving our neighbor seriously, especially during a pandemic. Because of this, and because the transmission in our community is so high right now, we are REQUIRING MASKS for all individuals over 2 years old. Drinks and snacks will be available inside but we ask that you please only have your mask off while actively drinking or taking a bite. We will continue to monitor the situation, listen to experts, and make adjustments as needed. We are as excited to get back to normal as everyone else. You can help make this happen too! We encourage everyone who is medically able to get the vaccine. Let’s do it for one another.

For those who don’t feel safe gathering in person or for those who do not want to or can’t wear a mask, we will be live streaming our gathering on our Facebook page.

What else to know:

Here is what else to expect though there may be some tweaks depending on COVID numbers. We would describe our worship gatherings as conversational, casual, relaxed, fun. Definitely come as you are. If you like to dress up, that is fine. If you have the perfect Sunday morning hoodie, that works too. If you are a hugger, you will get your fix. If not, no worries, we have those folk too. We love our coffee (or tea or water…) and snacks. Though we aren’t opposed to healthy snacks, we’ve been known to easily finish off a box (or two) of donuts. More importantly, the coffee and snack table seems to be where a crowd gathers catching up on the week. During our gathering, we sit at tables. You will find paper and colored pens and markers on the table. Feel free to doodle if it helps you concentrate or take notes. We sing together. You could describe our musical style as modern. Anyone who can halfway decently play nearly any instrument or sing is welcome to join our praise team. You can go HERE for some songs that we sing together. There will be teaching. It isn’t unusual that questions are asked and people respond. Even if a question wasn’t asked, no one would think it weird if someone shared a thought during the teaching. All in all, WE ARE A FAMILY GATHERING TOGETHER! And you are welcome to join us.
